The proportion of broken glass in glass bottle products
Production of glass bottles and their related products utilize recycled glass bottles. Recycling refers to various packaging wastes which cannot be utilized as raw material for producing glass bottles; glass bottle products in this context don't just consist of bottles alone but can also include building materials, daily-use glass bottle products and product wastes.
Addition of cullet to raw materials can enhance glass production. Broken pieces can be melted at lower humidity than other materials, requiring less heat for melting purposes and helping reduce furnace wear as a result.
Researchers have concluded that when manufacturing glass bottles, using at least 30% broken glass is optimal; by doing this, both recycled glass use can also increase and promote environmental protection.
Most glass bottle products now utilize 20% cullet to promote fusion and quartz sand as raw materials; this provides the optimal combination of raw materials such as feldspar and alkali.
